I. Preface

1. Significance for producing vehicle carried substations
  1.1 The concept of vehicle carried substation was put forward in the beginning of this century. Some important national ministries consider the following a serious problem: how to recover power supply as soon as possible in an emergency case. In China, when a serious natural disaster occurs, the government will start up the emergency rescue program, and the first task is to guarantee power supply. In 2006, with Guangzhou Railway (Group) Company being the initiator, the project concerning the production of vehicle carried pull-type substations was officially launched. In August 2007, the first vehicle carried pull-type substation was officially checked and accepted by the Ministry of Railways and other organizations.

  1.2 Vehicle carried pull-type substations have obvious advantages. Firstly, they are very flexible. A vehicle carried pull-type substation can be transported to any suitable place with a power supply, no matter whether the place is in countryside, in mountains, or near a road. Since the workload is extremely small, the connection and installation of the substation can be completed in an extremely short time. Secondly, their installation can be finished quickly. For a vehicle carried pull-type substation, the stipulated normal time needed for connecting the equipment is 180 minutes. Because all the equipment has undergone pre-assembly, pre-commissioning, and pre-power-generation, and the tests have been performed, the on-site work can be simply considered as repeated connection of electrical equipment.

  1.3 Particularity of vehicle carried pull-type substations. From the angle of time and scale, temporary conventional substations cannot guarantee the smooth performance of important work when people are dealing with an emergency case. And other methods whose degree of concentration is too high cannot fully satisfy the technical requirements. Therefore, in special periods of time, vehicle carried substations can play a special role. At the same time, vehicle carried substations have extremely important strategic significance.

  2. Basic structure of vehicle carried substations
  2.1 Vehicle carried substations maintain the basic mode of conventional substations. That is to say, the connection between the high voltage side and the transformers is realized in a fixed way. So, the electric connection is fixed. According to the different requirements of the users, different design adjustments can be made on the low voltage feeder circuits. Thus, not only can the stability of the operating status of vehicle carried substations be guaranteed (the reasonable dispatching can be guaranteed), but the requirements of the users in special cases can also be satisfied. The basic configuration is six 10 kV outgoing lines.


II. Vehicle carried pull-type (fast-installed) substations

  2. Composition of a vehicle carried pull-type substation

  A vehicle carried pull-type substation is mainly composed of the following electrical equipment:

  2.1. 110 kV HGIS
Function: Realizing the high voltage electric connection between the line power supply and the transformers and completing load breaking, metering, monitoring, protection, etc. It has such functions as local operation, remote operation, and manual operation.

  2.2. 110 kV on-load voltage-regulating transformer
Function: Completing the transmission of electric energy.

  2.3. 10 kV container-type switch cabinet
Function: Providing the user with acceptable power supplies and completing the functions like automation, metering, monitoring, and protection.


III. 110 kV solution: application of HGIS



  3.1 HGIS:
  3.1.1 In fact, HGIS is a kind of enclosed switchgear that integrates circuit breakers, combined disconnecting switches/earthing switches, current transformers, and potential transformers into a whole. The most obvious characteristic of HGIS is its flexibility. It is a mobile electric bay. Its installation is simple, and its requirements for foundations are very low.

  3.1.2 Characteristics of HGIS:



  The above characteristics enable HGIS to possess a unique position in fast-installed substations. HGIS saves space and realizes fast electric connections.
